Is Satoshi Nakamoto real?
One of the biggest mysteries to date around Bitcoin and the cryptocurrency community is the identity of bitcoin’s founder, Satoshi Nakamoto. In 2008, he released a paper called Bitcoin P2P e-cash paper announcing to the world the creation of bitcoin and had stayed active on BitcoinTalk community, a forum he created til early 2011, helping with the development of the project. It is roughly estimated that on Nakamoto’s wallets he holds approximately 1 million BTC, estimated at current values of around 20 billion American dollars. Numerous investigations were made in the hopes of revealing his true identity, but he managed to elude them so far, but here are some of the critical figures thought to be Satoshi Nakamoto.
Dorian Nakamoto
An investigation done by a news outlet called The Newsweek put Dorian Nakamoto into the spotlight, focusing on the similarities between the 2, libertarian learnings and Japanese connections. Dorian has denied all the claims made by the press association but due to a mistake by them, they managed to disclose his location, causing a great ordeal of stress for Dorian Nakamoto.
Craig Wright
Craig Wright is the founder of Bitcoin SV, a fork of bitcoin cash that itself is a fork of Bitcoin. Wright claimed multiple times that he was behind founding Bitcoin and presented evidence to back it up, though many influential people in the crypto community such as the Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, went public against him calling him a fraud.
Nick Szabo
While still circumstantial, the facts behind Szabo’s background might suggest that he has a lot of similarities with the Bitcoin Founder. Szabo is a computer engineer, and he is believed to have set the basis for smart contracts back in 1996 in a paper he published, in 2008 he created a decentralized currency that he named BitGold, there have also been connections to the similarities in Szabo and Satoshi’s writing. While Szabo denies the claims, people in the crypto community still believe that he might be bitcoin’s founder.
Others believe that Satoshi Nakamoto is not actually a single person and that Bitcoin is the mastermind of multiple people working as a team. While his identity is still unconfirmed, his legacy is set in stone as Nakamoto is single-handedly responsible for the biggest financial revolution of the century.
